The Powertrain Update

The Powertrain Update

The SE designation is about what changed underneath. Super73 rates the updated powertrain at up to 30% more acceleration than the drivetrain it replaces — the largest gain anywhere in the Legacy Series lineup. On a bike this light, that shows up immediately: pulling away from a light, getting across an intersection, merging into traffic. The 500W nominal motor keeps it Class 2 compliant and street legal, so the improvement is in how quickly it reaches 20 mph rather than how fast it will ultimately go.

Weight is the spec that decides whether an e-bike gets ridden or gets abandoned in a hallway. At 59 lbs and 64" long, the Z Miami SE fits in a freight elevator, gets down a basement ramp, and can be lifted over a stoop by one person who isn't a powerlifter. Compare that to the 88 lb R Adventure or the 138–165 lb machines further up the category and the practical difference becomes obvious after about a week of ownership.

The Z Miami SE runs a single-speed drivetrain and a rigid rear end, and both are deliberate. No derailleur means no cable stretch, no indexing, no bent hanger from a fall — the maintenance list is short and the failure points are few. The tradeoff is real: a rigid rear transmits more of the road than a suspension frame does, so if your ride includes hard curb drops or rough trail, the R-Series is the better tool. For flat city riding, this setup is the one that stays out of the shop.

We're an authorized Super73 dealer with techs on site seven days a week and walk-ins welcome. Every bike that leaves our showroom is assembled, torqued, and safety-checked by hand, and we walk you through the controls before you ride off. When something needs attention later — warranty work, brake service, a flat — you bring it back to the same counter instead of shipping it across the country. That's the part that doesn't show up on a spec sheet.
